Image sizing defaults

I'm copying and pasting a large number of text boxes and images from created PowerPoint slides into Captivate (the "new project from PowerPoint" has proven to be mostly worthless because timing rules from PowerPoint don't seem to cross over) and the default size of the images as they come in seems to be 1800 on the width which is always too big (1100 is usually close). 

Is there a way to change the default width of images pasted in so I don't have to resize every time I paste a new image in a slide?

if you select all the images or boxes then resize all should go to the size you want.

I find that powerpoint slides are good as a reference point by you are better starting a captivate file from scratch.  This avoids the whole death by powerpoint occurring.  Your taking a learner on a journey, no a rehash of powerpoint slides.

This could work.  The real problem is that all the images come in so large it is hard to select all (most come in at ~1800 w and get reduced to 1100 but not all) when they cover the entire screen and you may not want to select every single one depending on sizes.  No matter what though, it is always larger than needed.

If you are speaking of animation timing, it should come over from PowerPoint. But if you have animations set to 'On Click,' in PowerPoint, beware not to import slides to Cp with the 'Click to Continue' option, as the user will have to click twice for the slide to progress.

If you have a lot of PowerPoint files needing conversion to Cp, it's worth making some resolution calculations.

See what the page size is for PPT:

Export a slide or all slides to images from PowerPoint via 'Save As' and select .png:

Use the size of the exported image as a guide for the Cp project resolution.

Also, if you really just need the slide as a design comp, drag the exported images to you Cp Library and you can place them on the Cp stage while you design the course. For much of my work, this has resulted in better resolution Cp output than importing PPT directly to Cp.

That's the issue- it's not supposed to be click to advance through the material.  Everything is timed with audio.  With Captivate allowing click to advance (not how it's set up in PPT.) you could finish the training in minutes instead hours.  The only time I want the user to be able to click is when they have finished reading/listening to the content on the slide- I've put a "Next" button on each slide for them to click and do so.

To keep it consistent with the PPT. training I'm copying pasting each line of text as separate text boxes and then setting up the animation again in captivate.  It's tedious but is the only way I've found that allows for everything to flow correctly based on the timing.

its annoying, but the powerpoint import has never worked that well for me.  It does encourage you to build a course in comparison to importing a course. 

I think having templates has helped cut the time down.  I hope your project turned out well.
