Import content from sources other than PowerPoint

We have a lot of courseware we want to convert over to Captivate that was previously written in a proprietary, company built tool. I would like to know if there's any way we could generate XML that can than be ingested by Captivate to generate elements on the screen (graphics and text) that will then allow courseware developers to add the interactivity actions. PowerPoint import doesn't work for us because we do not want to merge the graphics and text into a single image that is imported.

Alternatively, if there is a way to build plugins for Captivate tooling and an API to work with, sort of like VBA for Office, that would work also.

    Sorry, but that isn't possible.

    There does exist an XML import option in Adobe Captivate, but it is only used to import back in an XML document that was first exported. Primarily this is used for localizing (translating) purposes.

    The only other similar feature is the ability to import GIFT files to create Question slides.

    Thank you, but I was hoping to import xml to create elements at design time, not at runtime. Is this not possible?
