Import/Export

As will soon be apparent, I am very new to both Captivate and Creative Cloud.

OK, here's the setup

I have Captivate 9 installed on my desktop

I have Captivate Draft installed on my iPad

I have a Creative Cloud account

I have a Dropbox account. It is installed on my iMac, iPad, and iPhone

I have a mail account

I have a creative cloud files folder on my desktop

The project saves to a folder: My Adobe Captivate Projects. So far so good.

Captivate

1.  I would like to send my finished project for review by the client (if I had one) via email.

2.  I would like to see this same file on my iPad.

3.  I would like to see this same file on my iPhone.

Captivate Draft

1.  I would like to send my drafts to my desktop to open in Captivate.

2.  I would like to send to the client for review via email.

I have spent several hours.  Adobe says "Download the Captivate Draft" and then open in Captivate.  I'd love to, but I don't know how to download the file from creative cloud.

I tried drag and drop to the creative cloud file folder.

I think I need to sync - but do not understand how.

I've tried to send via Dropbox and while I do see it on my iPad, it opens to a blank page.

These are really elementary questions probably, and I have really given it a extended try.

If someone could take 10 minutes of their time, I'm sure Karma will take care of you in the future.  For sure, I will certainly be grateful.

Joe

A Captivate file (cptx) cannot be opened on the iPad, only the app Captivate Draft can be opened on iPad. Watch the tutorials in the app to see how you can store a Draft in your CC Library, you have to use a tool in the top toolbar, second button:

From Draft you can also send a file for review. Look at the Help documentation please. Adobe Captivate Help | Review and collaboration in Adobe Captivate Draft

The Welcome screen of Captivate allows you to import a Captivate Draft file that has been saved to the CC Library. That is the fastest way.

I didn't test the present version of the Reviewer for a CPTX-project, it has always been very cumbersome because the reviewers have to install an AIR application. I think it is better to publish the project, maybe to EXE and send it that way to the client. You can also publish to an interactive pdf, but the Flash player which is needed for such a pdf is no longer embedded in Adobe Reader latest versions.

Thank you very much.  I looked at all the links you sent and did more studying.

I can now author on my iPad with Captivate Draft and send to the client via email for viewing but not editing.  Shouldn't they be able to edit if they have Captivate Draft installed?

That's one side of the pipeline.

I can open the file (sent via email or Creative Cloud) on my desktop with Captivate, but then how do I send the new revisions back to the client.

Is there a way to export the Captivate file to Draft format?

In fact, even more basic - how do I send ANY finished captivate project to the client or for public viewing.  I read some mention of providing a link, but how would I create such a link and where would it point to?

Thank you,

Joe

It is one way: Draft to Captivate, not the way round, sorry.

I told about the Reviewer, still available with Captivate 9. I mentioned already some ways to send the file (exe, interactive pdf). The best way is to upload it to a webserver and send the link, or upload to SCORM Cloud and send a link.
