Is is possible to use insert>image slide to automatically import a sequence of images while maintaining their original quality? Basically, is there a way to prevent Captivate from automatically downsampling images? Images always look blurry or fuzzy when importing this way. Is there a work around? Thanks!
Use SVG, not bitmap images for best results since they are vector-based. But not all images are suited to be converted to a SVG.
For bitmap images you get the best quality when you import them at exactly the resolution (size) you needs them in Captivate. Changing the size in Captivate will always decrease the quality. I never import images with Image slide work flow, but import them to the Library and drag them on the slides.

I love using SVG files and absolutely always use them whenever possible, however, in this case, I'm looking for a way to maintain image quality of PNG files generated from a series of InDesign pages. Is there any way to prevent Captivate from downsampling images?

I did notice that bringing images in at the exact same size does seem to help a little bit, but any text that's embedded in the image tends to look slightly out of focus no matter what.

I try to avoid text in images, if I cannot convert it to SVG. It is all about compromises: compression is needed because eLearning courses need to have file size limited, even more so with the recent hype about responsive projects that have to be able to play on the limited hardware of mobile devices. The goal of eLearning is focussed on Learning, and some loss of quality in images is much less important than having a well-designed, engaging course. Just my personal opinion, I will have not the same focus when working in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or Audition when I'm using Captivate.
