I will move your question to the Presenter forum. I cannot use Presenter neither, because I have a retina screen. Is that perhaps the case for you as well?

The installer for Presenter should auto-detect what version of PPT you have (32 or 64 bit) and install the appropriate version. I believe Presenter 8 was the last version to have two installers, one 32 bit and one 64 bit. What version of Presenter are you trying to install?
