Hello All, I'm experiencing the following puzzling issue: When I open my project within Captivate, all the slides look presentable. When I preview, same thing. But when I publish in HTML5 and either view in browser or upload to server, some learning interactions on some (not all) slides are in the upper left hand corner covering the slide titles. Is there a setting I'm not seeing that would make this happen? It ruins the appearance and legibility of the affected slides. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

Could you specify the kind of project (responsive or normal), and the learning interactions please?

It is a normal project and this is happening with some Accordion and Process Circle interactions. You will see an example of this if you click on "Committee Basics" from the table of contents in the project. Thanks

Do they have a 'Scale Text....' in the configuration, Custom? They are supposed indeed to be inserted at 100%, top left.

Thanks, I will check. I'm OK with them being top left but right now it's in the extreme covering the slide headers so you can't read what's underneath.

Hello, do you mean in the custom configuration of the interactive widget? I didn't take this route. I just used the pre-existing widget. I'm not seeing a "scale text" option.
When I click on the Accordion interactive widget, select properties, then hit options, I'm seeing "Transform" which allows you to change the proportions and then lock size and position. Even when I do change the proportions and then lock it the way I want it, the interaction is still covering the header when published. I really don't understand why this is happening.

Neither the Accordion nor the Process Circle are interactive, those are both static widgets. Maybe have a look at:
Tips - Learning Interactions - Captivate blog
Custom button is IN the configuration of each widget. There you can find the 'Scale text' I was asking about, because that would prove that you have the latest version.

OK, thanks for your patience. I do have the "scale text" box checked. Should it not be if I don't want these interactions covering the slide headers when published?

No, as I told, this was just to check if you have the latest version.

OK, so now what? How do I prevent this from happening? I'm not seeing this topic covered in your "Tips - Learning Interactions" link above. Thanks

I have been searching and couldn't find a workaround. If I remember well, I already reported this bug a while ago, please do the same.

OK thanks, I'm going to call support. In my mind, this is a basic functionality that should have been addressed by Adobe before they launched Captivate 8.

Of course, you can do that, but logging a request or bug form will get to the developers. Not sure that is the case with 'support'.

I've got the same problem when inserting Accordion interaction widget. The widget is not only 'floating' and covering the text in the slide, but also playing independently even though I've checked the box of 'sync with the slide' when inserting the widget: when I play online the audio commentary I inserted in the widget, it would keep going on till the end even though I've click on the 'NEXT' in the slide and move to next slide.
All these happen after I've published the project to HTML5 and viewed online. When preview and check the index file on my computer, the htm files play fine.

I did call support and they ended up sending me updated widgets to use. This solved the problem. There is something in the scripting of these interactions that aren't working properly so you are going to have to ask them to send them to you. I'm not sure why they don't include these in the automatic updates. For a large company like Adobe, you would think they would resolve these bugs earlier in the release. How long has Captivate 8 been out now?! We're talking basic functionality here....Good luck!

Thank you so much! I'll call support for updated widgets

Update as of 8/18/2015:
I have the up-to-date 8.0.1.242 version of Captivate. There are no features blocked by Windows firewall when I use it.
The updated Accordion widget I received from Adobe support yesterday still does NOT work after the project is published. Once shown in browser, the widget is 'floating' against the slide, and the inserted audio pieces stand alone by themselves, not sync with the project.
I am not sure if other interactive learning activity widgets have the same problem.
I've reported back to Adobe support. Looking forward to the fix.

Bummer, did you also try RodWard's suggestion above? Although, I wasn't working on a corporate network. Sometimes I would have the issue of not seeing some of the interactions in the menu. This was because I was offline and the program was looking to do updates. So I knew they were being periodically updated but still had the problem you are describing.

Where did you place the updated Accordion widget on your system to make it available from within Captivate?

Hi,
I'm experiencing the same problem.
Could you please send me the updated widgets?

Hi Rod,
I put the the updated Accordion widget together with other interaction widgets (including the original Accordion widget), in this folder: > Public Documents > Adobe > eLearning Assets > Interactions_8_0. This is a folder automatically generated when Captivate program was installed into my computer. btw, I have admin right for my computer and I run Captivate as administrator.
To avoid the 'floating' interaction widget blocking the content of the slide, I've kept the slide blank. Still, once on webserver and play online, you can tell the widget is dislocated and seems always at the upper left upper spot of the slide. This is problem #1.
Problem #2: all the audio files inserted in the widget are not sync with the project after published online...i.e., when I move to next slide, any of the audio file that was triggered would keep going, not interrupted. This means the widget is standing alone, not integrated in the slide.
These two problems only show after publishing online. When preview within the project and test the htm file locally, everything works perfectly.

OK. Now that I have more detail on your issue I can tell you that the first problem is a known issue with these interactions at present and I haven't so far seen a version of the interaction that resolves it. You'll have to be patient and wait for Adobe to fix it.
The second issue is also a known issue with any of these interactions that allow audio to be attached. The widget behaves separately to the slide content and moving to a different slide does not cut off the audio automatically. Again this is something that Adobe will only likely resolve if enough people log it as a bug and request a different behaviour.

Thank you for the clarification. I've reported both when speaking to Adobe support on phone.
Seems I have to get around using different approach for the interaction. Again, looking forward to the fix released from Adobe.

Update...
Floating problem also occurs in Captivate 9 😞
Do all widgets have this problem, or just the accordion one?

Most of them do. But not all.
