Is it possible to answer a question in a quiz-page unlimited without leaving the quiz-page?

Community Beginner ,

Hello together!

We are working with quiz-pages in our Adobe Captivate project. In the quiz menu, we can choose unlimited attempts to answer the question as often as possible. In HTML, if the answer was wrong, there is no way to answer the question again, without leaving the page, going to the next sheet and then back again to the quiz page. Is there any way to answer a quiz question as often as possible without leaving the page?

Thank you for your support!

Kind regards

We don't seem to understand each other mutually? In Captivate 9 you have Knowledge Check slides, which, contrary to normal Question slides will never be added to the score because you cannot even add a score to those slides. In former versions you had to tweak quiz slides to convert them to mimicked Knowledge Check slides by taking out their score from the Total score.

Setting the quiz to unlimited attempts does not mean that each individual question slide is also set to unlimited attempts.  There are two separate levels of attempt going on there.

So if you want each question to have unlimited attempts, you set that at the question slide level in the Quiz tab, not in the Quiz Preferences.

Yes, we have already set that in our project. But there is the problem if we publish the project, we have to leave the quiz page, go to the next page and then back to the main question to answer the quiz question again. Buttons like "check answer" are unlocked, if you don't leave the quiz page.

Could you tell the version you are using? As Rod pointed out, you can set attempts both on Question and on Quiz level. If it is on Question level and you leave the question slide without using the Remediation feature, the attempts are considered to be exhausted. I would also like to know if those are considered to be regular Question slides (with reporting) or Knowledge Check slides? More info about Question slides:

On default quiz slides there is no button 'Check Answer' embedded. Can you explain what you mean by that button? Is it a custom shape button perhaps added to quiz slides? Only the Review feature on quiz level is present out of the box.

Thank you!

Yes, it's version 9. OK, they are considered to be knowledge check slides, not regular question slides. It is a custom shape button, we used a transparency and named it after. This is our button. Is it possible, that I'm only able to select a different answer on quiz level?

You have to cope with the restrictions that are coming with the default question slides (reason I often create custom question slides, certainly for Knowledge slides): yes, with infinite attempts on Question level, the user will be able to answer the question as many times as he wants (he gets the Retry message), but when he leaves the slide (without using Remediation feature) no way to re-answer the question. I tried to explain that in the articles that I posted.

Is there any reason why you don't use the new Knowledge slides?

OK thank you, I will try this, but I wonder, why some of our knowledge-slides, which follow each other, work  (answer the question as many times as I want without leaving the page) and some knowledge slides, which stand alone (f.e. between two text pages) don't work. I can choose the answer, but all buttons are locked.

Yes, we use this slides, because beside this knowledge slides, we also embed a normal quiz in our project. The knowledge slides are separate, between several text sites.

Have you by any chance removed or replaced the Question Title or Question caption in those slides?  If so, that can cause them to malfunction.

Sorry, I don't get it: do you use Knowledge slides or regular Quiz slides for which you don't include the score in the Total?

No, I haven't changed them. We use knowledge slides, which we don't include the score. But we'll try on to solve this problem, it's not a big problem in this project. Thank you.

Yes, I absolutely understand. In our project, it's the problem you told me before. Check slides will never be added to the score, so my question is answered. I think, we could convert them into quiz slides. Thank you for your help!

OK.  I am not understanding what you are saying here.

Are we talking about normal quiz question slides such as True/False, Multiple Choice etc, or slides that you have constructed out of interactive objects?

With normal quiz question slides, if you have multiple attempts allowed on the slide, and you answer incorrectly, you should be able to select a different answer and resubmit, without leaving the slide.
