I'm hoping it's just a button click or something but here is what I would like to do.
I created some smart shape groups in captivate (See SS). I can recreate them in a graphics program if need be but I thought Captivate editable text would be more useful for future editing.
Ideally, what I would like to happen is to have these Callouts replace the built in ones (See SS).
If I have to use smart actions and variables to accomplish this I'm ok with that but I was having trouble making the clickbox show up as a variable. (still new at Vartiables and actions)
In summary: Can I use my own callouts for a Click Box That are not just plain squares? If yes, any help would be appreciated. If not are there alternatives I haven't thought of?

Which version do you use? Is it a very old version? I'm asking this because since several versions default feedback messages are shapes, not captions anymore. Look under Preferences, Defaults:

The style of the shapes for Success, Failure, Hint can be set up in the Object Style Manager. I don't know why you would need a 'group'?
In CP2017 there is a bug in the included themes, where the feedback messages all use the same Failure Shape style. I explained in this blog post how to correct that bug by editing the theme:
Feedback shapes in Captivate 2017 - Captivate blog
If you are referring to the text IN the shapes, you need to edit the CaptureTextTemplates.....rdl file for your language.
Why do you talk about states? Do you want to have added custom states for those feedback messages, and if yes, when should they appear triggered by which event?

Apologies for the late reply! I was away all weekend and just got back into the office.
I'm using Adobe Captivate 9. I do have access to the latest version on my own personal computer but I would rather stay in the confines of what my company uses for the time being.
I'm a little confused I think. I created the above images with a square and two lines. I would like them to be my Success and Failure popups for a click box. Does that make more sense?
Apologies if my initial post was a bit all over the place.
thanks for your help!
