Is there a way in a drag and drop to only have an audio on an image play once

Hello, I have a drag and drop question in Captivate 9

I my drag and drop set to two attempts.   I wanted to have the first incorrect response say "You are incorrect"

However, after the second attempt I have actions on the incorrect choice to play "This is still incorrect, here is the correct answer"

(for example, the responses are different for each question)

Problem is, when the second incorrect attempt happens, BOTH the "you are incorrect" AND the "this is still incorrect" audio places.

I can't manage to hold back the first audio in any way since the actions for built in interactions are limited.

Is this a Knowledge check slide or a scored D&D slide? Are you on the latest versio 9.0.2.437?

How do you trigger the audio, please? It is apparently not by using the Play Audio command, because that allows only one clip to be played at the same time, never multiple clips.

Reason for my first questions, have a look at this article which is not about audio but about multiple feedback which is a similar situation:

It's just a knowledge check.  Nothing that is graded.

Right now I have the attempt response attached to the incorrect message that shows up with the drag and drop.

On the Failure message, I have it executing actions that play the audio.

Problem is the Incorrect message shows up on both the incorrect attempts AND the on the failure, it ends up playing during the same time that the failure audio plays.

This link has some promise, thank you.  I will investigate this for now.

Do not attach it to the failure message. The 'Failure' event is actually only happening after the last attempt, that word is not well chosen (should have been Last Attempt, similar to question slides). You can attach it to the failure message if a different message appears for each attempt, which is what I explained in that article. Your problem is due to the fact that you combined a Play Audio command (I suspect) with object audio (the audio attached to the failure message).

Thank you.

Yes, currently I have an audio on failure and on the image, which I see why it doesn't work and I resorted to just having a please try again text message with the built in Incorrect message.

All in all though, i don't need a separate message displayed for each attempt as much as I need the audio message that was attached to the incorrect image to stop playing so it doesn't overlap.

I am going to explore the solution listed above for other projects because it's very useful for interactions.  On this particular one, being pressed for time,  I am wondering if on the failure message I can run a javascript command to STOP the audio playing that was attached to the incorrect image.  The built in action to stop trigger audio doesn't work, I am assuming because it wasn't trigger inside the current actions.

So let's say the audio that is playing is named "incorrect.mp3" and this is attached to the incorrect attempt message.

This plays for two attempts if those attempts are wrong and show the failure message.

After the last attempt, the On failure advanced actions kick in which is set to play it's own audio.

Is it possible, before that audio plays, using Javascript, to stop the file incorrect.mp3 from playing?

I've done this in Lectora for example, but I don't know how Captivate publishes and what it names things compared to the project name.

If the audio was triggered by 'Play Audio', there is a command 'Stop Triggered audio'. But that is not the case, it is 'object audio' and object audio plays when the object appears, and cannot be muted separately. If I understand your setup well, it could be done if you leave the current setup and create different feedback message with or without audio. You wouldn't even need to use the Last Attempt event to play audio, just attach it to the last Failure message.

I cannot answer if it would be possible with JS, because of the way the audio clip is started (by being attached to an appearing message). It cannot be done with advanced actions for that same reason.

Another way, but far too cumbersome for this situation is to use the object actions.
