Is there a way to set actions on a Quiz question's Submit button? I want to make it advance to the next slide or to continue when they get the question right, or come to the end of the tries they are allowed. I'd like to eliminate the Continue/Next button. Why does it take two actions to get out of the slide? I'm using Captivate 8.
Not possible, or you will screw up the functionality of the quiz slide. Submit button is the most important object of each default quiz slide.
I suspect you are not on Captivate 9 but on an earlier version? Maybe read this article:

You do not need the Next button at all if you do not allow Review. If you allow Review, you cannot uncheck it, because otherwise the user will be stuck on slides during review. You can drag the Next button under the Clear button (see article). The submit button will trigger the actions Success/Last Attempt which you can use to your advantage.
If you want to limit the Submit process to one click, you'll find a scenario in the same article

I know you are on Captivate 8 but thought I should mention that in Captivate 9 you now have an extra checkbox option in Quiz Settings for Review Mode Navigation Butons which will show Back and Next buttons during Review. But you can have Back and Next (Skip) buttons turned off in the Quiz tab for the same project so that the learner only has the Submit button when performing the quiz. It's no longer necessary to use the method Lilybiri suggests of dragging the Next button under the Clear button.

Rod I answered that way because in Captivate 9 there is no longer a Next button at all, only a Skip button. To me this means that the user is not on CP9.

As I said in my pst, I KNOW he is on Cp8. I wanted him (and others reading this) to know about the new way Cp9 does this.

Rod, Thanks for your response to my question. I'm sure the first solution works, but I actually decided to just delete the Continue/Next button on the Master slide. You still have to click Submit once for your answer and once to advance to the next slide, but it is cleaner. As for the Captivate 9 information. I appreciated it. We are looking at Captivate 9 and I can add the Quiz features to my list of justifications for upgrading, so your information was helpful.
