I have searched the forum for an answer without success. I have a project with many slides that have a click box over a graphic and the action set to Jump to slide. On rare occasions it works, but most of the time it does not. Here are the properties:
I am using Captivate 2017, Windows 10.
I have no quizzes, but in the Quiz: Settings I have the following settings:
I have not been able to establish a pattern of any kind, except that is seldom works. A big THANKS for anyone who can rescue me for this project with a looming deadline.
I never understand why users continue at using click boxes over images instead of shape buttons filled with that image. Sorry, that is off topic. Especially if you ever want to create a responsive project, one object is much easier to control than two objects that have to be in the same location.

How did you test, please? I often did see similar questions, where the user was testing with the option 'From this slide' or 'Next 5 slides'. In that case, when you start the Preview from slide 15 (example) that click box which you use to jump to slide 3 will not be functional because that slide 3 is not generated with that Preview method. Try Preview in Browser (F12 for SWF output) or Preview HTML5 in Browser (F11 for HTML5 output).
You don't have quiz slides, do you have Pretest slides or Knowledge Check slides?

I fixed the problem, which indeed was partially caused by using the Preview method of testing. The project is not responsive, or I would have used shape buttons. I realize it's my inexperience, but I struggle mightily getting buttons to work correctly and this project needed to be fixed fast, so that's the reasoning. When it's in bed, I'll go back and educate myself more on buttons.
