The course is tracked as failed in content level within Captivate but is communicated as successful to eLearner in the Learning Management System.  Which settings in Captivate need to be changed for the LMS to indicate unsuccessful with quiz completion scores under 80%?

Yes this should be fine.  But if you have a quiz in the project, and passing that quiz is a good way to know whether or not users have grasped the content then I would suggest you NOT use the Slides Viewed as a part of your completion criteria.  Just turn that bit off and go with Quiz is Passed only.

I think Lieve means the Quiz > Reporting screen in CAPTIVATE not your LMS.

You should also include screenshots of the Quiz > Pass or Fail screen as well because that is where the pass percentage value is shown.

Another point: If your LMS is marking the course as successful even though the Captivate module is NOT indicating success on the Quiz Result slide, then this would indicate your LMS may be marking completion based on simply accessing the course rather than looking at the completion criteria.  You need to check the course settings in the LMS to see what it is expecting to see as proof of success or completion.

We think that having the slide views checked is causing this issue.  Is two areas checked mean AND or OR.  Is there a way to ensure the end learner completes all the slides and passes the quiz with 80%?  Is that a setting on this quiz settings/ report.

What does the status representation really mean? Is that set correctly?

Having both Slide Views AND Quiz Passed selected means that Success/Completion is only awarded when BOTH criteria are met. In your case this would mean that the user must view at least 42 slides and pass the quiz as well.

But you still need to show us the Quiz > Pass or Fail screen.  That's where the required passing percentage is shown.

Sorry!  Does this help?  Are the correct options selected for this course to work in the LMS to fail with a score under 80%?

Status Representation is just the words used to express successful criteria to your LMS. There are circumstances where passed or failed wouldn't be appropriate terms to use so "complete" is used instead, and vice versa as well.

Two areas mean that both criteria must be met in order to be successful. Try lowering the number of slides or switch to a lower percentage to see if that helps. Slide views can be tricky because it might be possible to skip slides during the course and have the course be unsuccessful because of this.
