For Captivate version 9, I need to know the location of these on both Windows and on Ma.

If you know any of these locations please let me know.

Jay,

The definitions for Workspaces are part of the Preferences and get wiped out if you reset the Preferences folder.

Themes are initially stored in the Captivate install directory > Gallery > Themes folder but are then copied to the Public User profile: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Adobe\eLearning Assets\Layouts\9_0\en_us (or whatever language you are on)

There's a ThemeColors folder in that same location.

May I ask what you are trying to achieve by knowing these locations?

It's good to know the locations when you want to share them with other people, or if you want to add your own items. For example, if you want to add your own characters, it's important to know where to put them.

I'm not sure that you CAN add your own characters.  Last time I checked there was something special about those PNG files and the way Captivate related to them. Just dumping more PNGs into the same folder doesn't guarantee they will appear in the dialog and work.

Hi Jay,

I find it important to know, because it helps to save custom elements before installing a patch or update. In this blog post, you'll find the indication of most of the locations:

1 action = 5 Toggle Buttons - Captivate blog

However for several custom elements you can choose a location.

As for the characters: looooong time ago Dr. Allen Partridge posted a YouTube video explaining how to add Characters so that they appear in the dialog box. I'm not sure you'll be able to find that video, nor if this is still valid for the present version.

‌thanks, Lilybiri. I can't find the video. I don't know why this should be such top secret information. Maybe someone knows how to do this and will chime in.

Sorry, posted the wrong link, apologize.

I'm sorry about the characters video (remember it well, you had to set up each custom image in two sizes but meanwhile lot has changed now for the characters, probably that is the reason why the video was taking out), maybe you could send Allen a mail: allenp@adobe.com
