Hi all.

Is there a way of manually setting the size of a fluid box and then locking the size once set.

Thanks

Russell

You don't set the size of a fluid box, you drag the separation lines between two fluid boxes (horizontally or vertically). I always recommend to turn on the Rulers, and eventually use guides as a design help. Up till now I never heard that suggestion in any of the many video published about Fluid boxes. Have a look at this article:

As for 'locking' the size that is really contradictory to the concept of fluid boxes: they have to be able to shrink, to wrap and always the whole slide will have to be filled by the fluid boxes. The only exception is when you have objects in a static fluid box. In that case you can use the Position properties to locate and size the objects.

Hi Lilybiri and thanks once again for a most detailed and helpful answer.

I think my issue is that I ma struggling to get pixel perfect positioning of my text in between slides which looks  a little unprofessional. Perhaps I need to get over this and focus on the adaptability of the fluid box. I will read the attached article and I am pleased to say that my knowledge continues to develop exponentially.

Have a great evening.

Russell

Hi Russell,

Pixel perfect is also contradictory for a responsive project. If you want more control, you need to develop with Breakpoint views. Only then will you have control over the Position properties of any item in each Breakpoint. But you will not have the smooth rescaling between the breakpoint views, you'll have to set up all text styles for the Breakpoint views and on the whole it will cost you a lot more working hours.
