Mathematical formulas in Captivate

Hello community!

Is there an easy way for drag and drop in captivate? I would like to make an e-learning lecture. I would like to do it via powerpoint but I have a mac with keynote. An import of keynote files in captivate is not possible. When I convert the keynote file into an powerpoint file, captivate tells me, that there is no powerpoint on my computer. So I started to work with the captivate slides. But here I cannot just drag and drop e.g. formulas from latexit or something else. Everything I can do is to import a jpeg. But that is really long-winded.

Also the quality of the slides are really bad, the jpegs are also bad. After exporting it and watching the exported video, the quality is ok.

Sincerly

Thomas

Starting from a PPT file is never a good idea. You can import more than just JPEG files which are not always the best choice, depending on the type of images, because JPEG is a lossy compression format, that doesn't support any transparency. Captivate has roundtripping with Photoshop, will convert imported layers to PNG (better format for most images, not lossy). You can import audio and video as well. You have the possibility to create mathematical formulas with the included MathMagic, but they'll end up as images anyway.

Dear Lilybiri!

Thx a lot for your comment. I tried MathMagic and it worked. I will go on with the captivate slides.

I would like to change the title of this thread, because it is confusing to other users: most will believe it is about the Drag&Drop feature, which is not the case. But you are the owner of this thread, so I ask to allow me to change the title? Or you can do it yourself?

Hi Lilybiri!

You are right. If you want change the title. Do I have to give you permission or can you do it by your own. I don´t know how to change the title. I you can´t do it, tell me the new title and the way I can change it. Sorry for the unconvenience, but this is my first day here 🙂

Yes, I can change it (moderator rights), can you suggest a better title? Something about mathematical formulas?

How about: "Fill in mathematical formulas in Captivate Slides"? My english is not very good 😞 If you can come up with something, I trust you 🙂
