Moving Captivate Files in a Server Environment

Community Beginner ,
Mar 08, 2016 Mar 08, 2016

I am working in a corporate environment. We have multiple contractors building Captivate courses for us. We need a solution for storing the Captivate files when these contractors leave. Currently, when we try to move the files from our desktop to a shared drive the files corrupt. Is there a work around for this? Will the files also corrupt if uploaded to SharePoint?

What types of storage solutions are being successfully employed at your organization?

Thank you!

Carrie Ann

Captivate CPTX project files are actually renamed ZIP archives.  Some storage solutions recognize them as Zips and mess with the file as a result.

You may need to check whether this is what is happening with your system.  IF so, you may need to find another storage solution or else bundle up all the CPTX files into a folder and zip that for storage.

Don't underestimate the value and practicality of burning the projects to a DVD disc.

That said, don't expect the media to last more than 5 years!
