Captivate 9 - Published in SWF format
My .mp4 videos don’t play when copied or published to a server – they play perfectly from my desktop. On the server I get “connection error” message followed immediately with a “loading” error (in the same error icon).

On the video slides, I included a text caption that plays as it should but the videos only show these error messages. When I advance the nav bar, the project plays – it just doesn’t show any of the videos.
I’m wondering if anyone else has seen this – or perhaps it’s systemic to the rigorous firewall of my organization.
Thanks for your help!
SMILES,
Susann

You mention that your organisation has a 'rigorous firewall' which makes me think you might perhaps be trying to play this content from a LAN server than a web server.
If the content or the video is located on a LAN then you're going to run into security issues that will usually stop the video from playing.

Thanks, Rod,
I've placed the content/videos on a web server. Can you think of anything else?

The usual reasons why a video that is currently on a web server is not working from within a Captivate module are either that the video mimetype has not been enabled on the server by the administrator, or else that your link in the Captivate module is not pointing at the correct server location.
