mp4 won't work in Windows Media Player

I am working on a project that has embedded videos on slides.

When I save the project as an exe or swf, it works fine. I need it as an mp4. When I try to save it as an mp4, it works on a mac computer but not on a Windows computer. I have tried on Windows 7 and Windows 8. On Windows 7 I get a message that says "Windows Media Player has stopped working." On Windows 8, message says "element not found."

Some Captivate mp4s work; others don't. I haven't figured out what the difference is. Videos seem to work better than videos embedded in slides.

I'm using Captivate 6. I'm creating the projects on Windows 7.

thanks

I got this to work. All I had to do was rescale the project to a smaller size.

Try post-processing the MP4s through the Adobe Media Encoder.  Sometimes that fixes any incompatibilities in the structure or encoding of the video and its metadata.

thanks for the tip, RodWard. I got it to work by rescaling the project, but that's a good thing to know.
