Multi level failure caption for click box interactions

Hello there everyone.  I primarily create software simulations in Captivate 8, and am now needing to circle back around to an issue we've never solved (keep hoping it will be addressed in each upgrade, but it never has been!); how can I get different failure captions on Click Box interaction and Text Entry interactions in an assessment.  For example, we would like to be able to say "Incorrect, please try again" the first time they get something wrong, then the second time we'd like to say "That was incorrect, you should have clicked on XYX" and have it move on to the next slide.  This functionality is build in for Quiz slides, but not for other types of interactions (that I can see). Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can get this implemented in Captivate 8?  Am I missing something obvious?  Is this something they have finally added in Captivate 9??  Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you tried inserting a user variable as the text in the feedback captions and then using Conditional Advanced Actions to alter the value of that variable at each successive appearance?

That's what I would be trying to do.

Thank you for the suggestion Rod; I'm not even sure I'd know where to begin though!  Although I have worked with Conditional Advanced Actions and variables, I don't know how to trap and track the sucessive appearances of a failure caption.  Can you give me a little more detail so that I can try it out??  And would this path mean I'd have to build a custom variable/advanced actions for every single click box action (we have assessments where is over a 100 such interactions!)?

Nothing has changed in Captivate 9 concerning scored objects AFAIK, sorry about that.

Although you could reuse the user variable to track the attempt, or use shared actions to save time, it is not that easy because for click boxes the only available events are Success and Last Attempt. There is no system variable for attempts on question level, only on quiz level. You don't get an event for each question attempt. It will need more tweaking, maybe Rod can explain?
