multiple audio segments in a slide?

Having done a lot of PowerPoints with very carefully timed narration, I was excited to find that I can attach narrations to each highlight box so they move around automatically if I change the timing of the box. Very nice!

There's just one problem I haven't worked around yet. Suppose I want a sequence of animation and narration like this in a software simulation (this particular part could also be done as a regular slide):

  1. Software window appears, narration attached to the slide explains what we're looking at. Then...
  2. Highlight box 1 appears, narration attached to the box explains why the highlighted section is important
  3. Highlight box 1 fades out as...
  4. Highlight box 2 appears, narration attached to the box explains why another highlighted section is important
  5. Highlight box 2 fades out as...
  6. A final piece of narration explains what the demo is about to demonstrate before proceeding to the next slide

It's that last piece that's tripping me up. It looks like you can only have one piece of narration attached to each item, and you can't (as far as I can tell) just add a standalone piece of narration to the timeline. I suppose I could create a transparent object with the desired narration attached to it, but that feels a bit kludgey, or I could just attach the last bit of narration to a new slide an auto-advance to it. In any case, I wanted to check here in case there's a better way I'm not seeing first.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

I would attach it to a transparent png or a png the same color as the background so you can't see it.

Same here. Either a transparent PNG or another highlight box that has been configured as transparent.
