Hello,
I'm working on a project where the learner must fill out 9 boxes of a chart and then click a single "Submit" button. Captivate, through advanced actions, is then supposed to check each answer and provide a correct (green checkmark) or incorrect (red X) for each response. I found some instructions online (http://kb2.adobe.com/community/publishing/890/cpsid_89018.html) and they were immensely helpful in getting me started as this is my first project in Captivate and advanced actions are...hard.
Unfortunately, I am not getting the results I anticipated. At this point, no matter what answer is input, I can get Captivate to respond with either a green check or a red X, but it's not based on whether or not the answer is correct.
So, for example, if I put the correct answer in the first box and an incorrect answer in the second box and then no responses in any of the others, I will get a red X for the first box, a red X for the second box, and green checks for all of the other boxes. I have checked and rechecked my advanced actions to ensure that they are following the instructions in the article and I have verified that I have put correct responses in the "Correct Entries" boxes.
Here's where I am theorizing I'm having issues:
Thank you for your help!

OMG that was an article I wrote about so long ago. I didn't even know they still have it in the Knowledge base. You say from 2011, but since it was before I started my blog in 2009, it is still older that you mentioned. My blog is here:
THis more recent post could be of help:
Custom Review - Captivate blog
It is not about TEB's but shows you how to change checkmarks in a multistate object which you certainly have to use in CP2017.
As for the variable associated with a TEB, a very old post but still valid:
Save Time: Create Associated Variable for Text Entry Box while Defining this TEB - Captivate blog
Moreover, that article didn't explain how to put checkmarks if my memory is correct. Can you show screenshots of the advanced actions you are using. I will not check it today (close to midnight in my timezone), but try to have a look tomorrow.

Hello,
That was a very quick response. Here are screenshots for my advanced actions, variables, and the properties menu.
I guess my new-ness is showing because I am not really sure how to marry multistate objects and the advanced actions that I've input. I guess I'm not sure why I would have to use a multistate object instead of having this image of a checkmark appear, but...I'm obviously not an expert.
The green checkmarks and red Xs are the symbols that the original article told me to create to indicate correct and incorrect responses. They are images that I've added to the project.
Thank you

Can you have a look at this blog post which explains all the features of the new dialog boc for Advanced Actions:
Advanced Actions Dialog box in Captivate 2017 - Captivate blog
You'll see that you have a Preview button, first button in the top right control panel. Can you use that button to show me at least two decisions in the conditional action? I need to see how you did set up the second decision, because from your explanatino I think something is not well edited after the first decision.
Your screenshots are confusing: I see both a conditional decision and a not-conditional decions for TEB1.
Why I prefer multistate objects over showing and hiding? It will avoid to have to hide, because onlyu one state can be visible. If you put both checkmarks as states of one multistate object, you only need one Change State command instead of having to Hide and Show. You can use the same name for the states, although the multistate object will have a different name. It makes editing a lot easier, less chance to have bugs.
I am very busy at this moment, preparing a presentation about Shared Actions (next Thursday), but also writing out some booklets about variables, advanced actions, shared actions, timeline, quizzing.... If you explain exactly what you want to do, show me the setup of the stage and have some patience, I will try to write out a blog post for this subject.

Hello,
I have included screenshots of the advanced actions in my project and I have also tried to attach a version of my project so that you can see it in action for yourself. That should allow you to see the stage setup and anything else you wish to view.
What I'm trying to do is have an activity for my trainees where they fill in the nine text entry boxes with an amount of money. Then I would like for my trainees to click a single submit button, which will then trigger Captivate to review all of the text entry boxes and mark them as either correct or incorrect. My end goal is to accomplish what you had in your 2011 blog post, but with 9 boxes instead of 3.
Thank you

It's not possible to attach CPTX files to this forum. And your screenshot is too small and blurry to be read, I'm afraid.
You may need to provide more information.

Sorry, cannot read this screenshot at all. It is much too fuzzy.
As Rod points out there is no way to attach files in the forum.

Are you answering within the Community portal, or directly in the Jive forums, for which your thread is:
Multiple Text Entry Boxes with one submit button
It is easy to insert any image in that forum, using this button from the answer control panel in the browser;

Can you see the screenshots that I added in my last post? I'm using the community from within Captivate. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on how I can accomplish the multiple TEBs with one submit button.
Thank you,
Meghan

Sorry but there were no images in your answer, reason why i proposed to come directly to the thread in the Jive forums (synchronized with portal) and add them using that button inthe screenshot.

I didn't have time today, but some quick questions. Did you enter the correct value fot he correct variables when defining thme?
Somehting I have to check is the micronavigatin (last command in Else), because in CP2017, especially for HTML output there are some issues which never occurred in previous versions. It is meant to get back in the active part of the TEB's. All TEB's have their pausing point at the same location?
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
