New Adobe Captivate - Training Simulation works ONLY ONCE

I would like users to have a choice to go back and do the simulation again, but the simulation does not work the second time once it's gone through. Is there a way to make the simulation work multiple times? I am working on the version 12.3.0.12. Thank you very much in advance.

Do you have any variables that you need to reset?

Need more details...

It would be great if you could give me an example of variables that I can reset the activity on simulations. Thank you very much.

Did you build this simulation?

Are you familar with variables?

Hi Dave, thank you for your reply. Yes, I built this simulation, and I am familiar with variables. But, I haven't been able to find a way to make simulations work twice in new Captivate. For now, I kept the playbar enabled within simulations so users won't get stuck at least. As Lieve suggested, we might need to be working on Classic Captivate for simulations, but I would still like to find a way to make simulations work with new Captivate if that is possible.

Did you read the rest of this thread? There appears to be a "bug" in the new Captivate's simulations. The advice for now is to create the simulations in the Classic version.

Hi Dave, yes, I read all comments on this thread but was still hoping to find a workaround of this issue. Thank you very much for your advice 🙂

I am having the same problem.

All the clickboxes that Captivate inserted during recording of my software sim are all set to unlimited attempts, and also NOT included in the quiz, so Quiz settings shouldn't have any effect.

I do not have any user created variables that would affect this, and don't see any quiz variables that would affect.... again, all the click boxes are not included in quiz.

It's difficult to say if this is the same problem or not. I would suggest you start a new thread with your issues.

I tried making an example file and the forums do not allow upload of .cpt files 😞

I am curious if others see the same behavior.  Really, just start a new simulation (does not seem to matter if it's an assessment or a training).  Record yourself doing something simple, such as 4 or 5 clicks on a website.  Put a button on your last slide or turn on the playbar so you can return to the first slide, then test clicking each one of the clickboxes Captivate inserted.  When you get to the end, go back to the beginning and try again.... for me, this is where Captivate does not allow forward motion via clicking on the clickbox.

Thank you in advance for any insights, I have tried it many times in different ways.

Dave, thank you for taking the time to find the article. It seems that it is mostly recommending to use Captivate Classic for software simulations until the new Captivate becomes a little more robust in terms of simulations.  I did speak with someone at Adobe and showed them the issue... we tried troubleshooting on the fly and were not able to solve it. It is logged as a potential bug and I am sure the Adobe team will follow up as necessary. In the meantime I will still use the software simulation function, but leave the playbar on so a user has a way to move through even if the clickboxes are not allowing it.   I wish was able to upload an example file, it can be so much clearer than just describing.  Oh well.  Thank you again!

Yes, that is exactly what the recommendation was. If Lieve Weymeis recommends something, you can bet it is the best practice. The creation of the simulation is almost idential between the two versions except the Class/2019 version has some limitations--it doesn't like recording on 4K monitors (without some PIA modifications) and doesn't like multiple monitors having different scale settings (but different resolutions are OK--go figure...).

Yes, Lieve is usually spot on!

I am so sorry to say that she recently passed away. We will all miss her greatly! She was such an asset to the Captivate community, and a lovely and talented person as well.
