New Install - Speed Issues - Can't change location of files from Network location to local machine.

New Here ,
Jun 25, 2015 Jun 25, 2015

For a new install, the my documents folder is set to a network location.  This slows down the use of Captivate since it is over a VPN line.  We tried to change the location in preferences and it saves for the project but doesn't save for the software.  The speed issue will cause non use of the product.  Anyone have any ideas how we can resolve this?

Sorry, but the only real solution is to use it locally. There is no magick wand here.

But we can't change it, so how do we change it and make it retain the setting?

Sorry, Rick, I understand this differently.

@Sue Did you try to change the paths in Preferences before opening a project? Normally the changes would then apply to all future projects.

Also, if Lilybiri's suggestion still doesn't work, check whether or not your clever IT dudes haven't instituted some kind of script that re-routes things back to the network without your permission.

One of my employees is on a VPN, but she has her My Documents folder set to a drive on the network instead of her local machine. So when she loaded Captivate, the publication locations assumed that network location and we can't change and retain a local drive designation.

My folder is local, also on a VPN, and so I don't have the speed problem, but I too can't change the location in preferences.   Is it assuming the My Documents location and for that reason, we can't change it?
