I need your advice, I want to create a video using screen shots in Captivate. I am basically using voice over and the screen shots with a pointer, in between the screen shots there will be some graphics and text with the procedures. I mostly want to show what button to press, etc.
thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge.
Peace.
Henry

Did you look at the Software simulation work flow in Captivate? After recording a demo or a training simulation, (cptx-project) you can insert other slides, add static and interactive objects, audio, video, whatever you want. For the output you have the choice; either a pure video (mp4) or a interactive course (HTML5 or SWF) which is much more efficient than a video for the goal you explained. If you want a pure video, you could use captiure a Video Demo in Captivate as well, which has only output to mp4. You mention Premiere Pro as well, I have to disappoint you because the raw material in Captivate cannot be opened directly in PP, you need to open the published mp4. The Video Demo (cpvc) has a dedicated editor that has not all the bells and whistles of PP of course.

Hello and thank you for your response. So, I was able to get the screen shots, now I am ready to put it all together-again it’s narration and a pointer. When I am on a screen shot I get a box that say’s screen capture-(can’t remember right now) but not sure what that is.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello, I now have all the screen captures (so many but will cut down). My main question is how to you create it to be a video? do I use the timeline....
thank you so much

Here is a sequence of articles about the timeline, I don't know if you used the Software simulation, demo mode? In that case you can directly publish to mp4, no need to edit the timeline.
Captivate's Timeline(s) Demystified - Intro - Captivate blog
Captivate's Timelines (master slide/normal slide cptx) demystified - Captivate blog

In any of the two cases, Software Simulation OR Video Demo, you can publish the output to video (mp4) and that later can be edited in PP in any format as you should be able to change the codec as per your requirement.
Use the tutorials shared by Lilybiri and edit (delete\ trim etc.) what's-not-required from the timeline. Here are the tutorials about using the Software Simulation and also the Video Demo:

hello, so I figure lots of things out-and am rolling a bit-of course not without some speed bumps along the way.
I did capture my screenshots in software simulation-after I assembled them and deleted a few slides, I went to preview project-so there is where I realized that maybe I should have capture the SS in Video. In preview the slides don't move unless I perform an action. So I'm stuck-can you move your SS to video? Also, is Select Input Capture Window asking me to perform a function?
Thanks for all your help=up to my eyeballs....

How did you preview? Is this a software simulation in demo mode (since you want to go to video)? I would have preferred a video demo, but once you publish a software simulation - demo mode to mp4 it will play like a video.

Hello, how do you go from Software Simulation to demo mode? Or how do I transfer my screenshots to demo mode.
Thanks

You have to make the choice before recording: either you choose for a Video Demo or for a software simulation. In the last scenario you can choose to do the capture in Demo, Training or Assessment mode and it is also possible to do the three modes (or two) in the same recording session. There is no way to convert a video demo to a softwre simulation nor the reverse.

Hello, you guys are freaking great…..
I did it, only thing left is the text to speech but I couldn’t find that feature in Cap9. I saw a video for Cap8 that said you needed to download something and then go to windows and get to slide notes? I wasn’t sure what to download and I will probably have an issue trying to get IT administrators to do that for me. But if I can get the correct info I will try, or if there’s a workaround I welcome that as well.
Also, can I create a intro page for my demo video?
Thank you so much,
