As Captivate was the successor to authorware I think this is the only forum I can ask this in.

I have a client who has a number of CBT disks created using authorware 4 from 1998 and he has asked if there is any way I can get the content off of them or event just use the CDs. They were created as an EXE to be run from the CD and I assume that I would need the version 4 runtime environment to play them. (I have tried authorware 7 which is the only one I could find to download)

My questions are these:

1. Would anyone be able to help me find the version 4 runtime environement to download? (I have tried for the past few days and have got no-where)

2. Would I be able to convert them without the post publishing files? (Authorware 7 says they are too old)

I know I may have already answered my questions but any help would be greatly appreciated

Just want to disagree that Authorware would be the predecessor of Captivate, it was totally different (some even claim Director is the predecessor, which is also not the case).

I suppose you have already googled, and this question is a last attempt to get an answer. Although I have played a little bit with Authorware in the previous century, I cannot help you myself. If no one pops in, you can send me a private message, I could find some previous Authorware users.
