Open another project Captivate 9

New Here ,
Feb 19, 2016 Feb 19, 2016

Hi,

I'm new in Captivate 9.

When I select under Actions, Open another project or Open URL or file, I cannot preview, only get the rotating disk.  I've published the target lesson, tried absolute coordinates.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Fred

You could be running into a permissions issue when playing the content from a local drive.  To test, upload your published content to a web server and test from there.

I'm also new to Captivate and having problems with the "Open another project" action. When I published my projects (to the same folder), view published content, and get to the button that triggers this action, when I click it, I'm prompted to allow Flash content, yet the project it's calling is published only as HTML5 content. I'm very confused about how I get this to open another HTML5 published project.

As I suggested to the original poster above, upload to a web server and test from there.  That's the best way to test HTML5 content.

Hello, I'm having some issues with "Open another Project" I've done everything I can imagine but when I upload it to Moodle and click on the button that has the advanced action the page goes blank  and it never loads, I don't know what may I am doing wrong, my scenario is as follow:

Scorm 1 Should be a Menu to and from where the users navigate from other SCORMS, with buttons that lead to each SCORM

Scorm 2 Module 1 (Course 1) with quiz section, and Menu button that leads to the Menu SCORM

Scorm 3 Module 2 (Course 2) with quiz section, and Menu button that leads to the Menu SCORM

Scorm 4 Module 4 (Course 4 ) with quiz section, and Menu button that leads to the Menu SCORM

The Idea is that the user can navigate to and from the menu from each individual SCORM. But in reality I load each course to the MOODLE server as a separate SCORM then I start SCORM 1 (Menu) and click on any button that should load one of the other Scorms and it does nothing it just goes blank.

Could you help me, I don't know what I can do to make it work, or if it's at all possible.

I have a partial solution for you as I just encountered the same problem.

First when utilizing the "Open Another Project" the project to be linked needs to be published inside the folder called "callees" from the published files of the parent project.

This works great but then if you try "Open Another Project" to get back to the original project it doesn't work. I think you need to use the open URL at this point.

One other potential problem could be flash permissions. From computer control panel search for flash and select the folder on your computer you publish to as a trusted folder before copying the published files to your server. This will solve the flash potential issues.

Although it is a partial solution it does not work for me, and I'm exporting to HTML5.

Through my research I found that this is not possible because most LMS (i.e.: Moodle) do not allow it and one would have to modify the "imsmanifest.xml" file itself, this requieres a deep knowledge of XML modifying (coding).

You are NOT using SCORM in the way it was designed to work if you are trying to launch one SCO directly from another SCO.  You're supposed to let the LMS take care of the navigation between SCOs.
