I imported a PowerPoint project into Adobe Captivate 8, using the high fidelity import option. When I preview the project in the browser, everything looks great. However, when I preview the project in "HTML 5 in browser" none of the images on the original PowerPoint slides are showing up. When I publish the file, unzip the published file, and click on the html document in the file, everything looks fine. I sent the published file over to a colleague to put on their LMS, and they reported that the project also was showing no PowerPoint images whatsoever. I've created several other Captivate projects from PowerPoints, and I've never had this problem before. Any ideas?

Captivate converts PPT slides to SWF objects. These are not going to be supported by mobile devices. You need to rethink using PPT at all if your content is intended for mobile delivery.
