preview won't show in browser

New Here ,

I have just started in Captivate 8 and the preview of a responsive project won't show in my browser. I get a 404 message. Blank project for non-responsive works. Any ideas?

Curiosity question here.

When Captivate launches, you typically see a Windows Firewall warning.

Are you seeing this? If so, are you clicking the "Allow access" button?

Yes, I did. With Adobe chat help, the person also got on my computer and tried renaming the appdata files to old and relaunching Captivate and preview still only worked non-responsive project files. The responsive test gave us the same 404 error in both Internet Explorer and Chrome. Apparently, a localhost issue but why would one type of project view and not the other from the same program?

Responsive projects preview from your local host. They also use a "special" type of viewer (shown below)

The other projects typically display from the file system using the Flash Player and just inside the basic web page. So it's a completely different ball game.

Responsive is the "new kid on the block" and version 8 is the first version to introduce it. As such, it's not perfect and still has many kinks to be sorted.

Cheers... Rick

Very interesting, thank you for that. Right now, I found that publishing it and viewing the final product that way is working so I can do that until I can resolve the other.

Thanks!!

What is the fix. I have to be able to preview my responsive designs or I'm working blind. Does Adobe ever come in with a fix. I have tried everything the users suggest, but what does Adobe say. Is it fixed? How do we fix it? Without going through everyone guessing?

Hello ,

Welcome to Adobe Forums !

Please make sure that your Captivate is updated , Go to Help > About Adobe Captivate , It should be 8.01.242 .

Also check if you have any special character or spaces in the computer username .

Try creating a new user account and see if you are able to reproduce the issue on that as well.

:Thank you. I talked to Adobe Chat and apparently it works for the non-responsive design but not responsive and it is an issue with my localhost that I need to talk to my IT department about. Thanks!

I have discovered that you MUST have default browser set or the preview for responsive design doesn't work. Choosing a default browser in system settings fix this problem for us.
