Publishing content with Adobe Edge Animation

New Here ,
Sep 30, 2015 Sep 30, 2015

Hi,

I am using Captivate 8 and have a question regarding content which includes HTML5 animations produced in Adobe Edge Animate CC (.oam) files. When I publish the files I would like desktop/laptop users to get the Flash version of my output and tablet/phone users to get the HTML version of my output. This is a standard way of publishing in Captivate however the HTML5 animations don't play in the Flash version. Does anyone have any advice on how they have handled this issue. That is, do you produce an HTML version only and everyone just gets this regardless of their device? Is there a way to detect the device type within Captivate and perhaps include HTML and Flash animations and use a variable to decide which one to play based on the device? Any other ideas?

Many thanks

Louise

When you publish for both SWF and HTML5 Captivate creates an extra Multi-screen.html file that has the 'sniffer' code to determine device type and then redirect to either SWF or HTML5 content.

Hi Rod

Thanks for response. Yes, I understand how the multi-screen.html works, but if I have Edge animations embedded in my content, and publish for both HTML and Flash the animations don't work in the Flash version so ideally I would have two versions of each animation and have some advanced action scripting in place to detect the device and play the correct animation. Not sure if this is doable, or if I am best off publishing for HTML only and everyone gets the HTML version regardless of device.
