Publishing links to a project on a website - unanswered question

Community Beginner ,

Hi guys

I posted the question below to the forum last week and haven't received an answer - can someone help please today?

Hi guys

I'm wondering if this question is so obvious because I haven't found an answer to it on this forum, but I thought I should ask it to be totally sure:

I am developing a series of responsive projects, links to which I want to publish to a website to be viewed from either laptop, mobile or tablet. The way I'm imagining this would work is that when I publish it a link will appear on this website which students can click on from either a laptop or a mobile/tablet device which would then play the relevant project in a separate window.

Am I correct in this understanding and are there any limitations/ pitfalls I need to take into account. I am currently running with version 8

Thanks for your help

No worries, no worries. It's good to ask questions about basic assumptions, especially if you're about to embark on a large project. What you've described is absolutely doable. If you run into any problems, it'll be because of server or hyperlinking issues (rather than anything intrinsic to Captivate).

So you're going to host the outputted Captivate HTML5 files on your server and then add links to those files on your website? It sounds like fairly standard webpage stuff to me. Just make sure you set the target attribute of the hyperlinks to "_blank" to ensure they open in a new tab/window.

But then again …

The way I'm imagining this would work is that when I publish it a link will appear on this website

Does this mean you wish to use Captivate Prime or something? I'm not very familiar with that side of things.

Probably you got no answer because this is not a Captivate question, it is just a website question. Maybe you have to try another forum?

Hi Lily

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I didn't make my question specific enough. The link I'm talking about is a link to a captivate project.

So read my original question when I talk about link I'm referring to the link to my captivate project.

I just want to be totally sure that there are no issues before I continue using captivate under the assumption that I can seamlessly publish to my schools website and also seamlessly display via links on tablet and mobile.

Hope that clarifies my question and its relevance to this forum

Thanks

Thanks for that - much appreciated. Yes I'm very conscious it's a basic question but I thought better to be 100%.

Thanks for indulging me !
