Quiz questions displaying answers from another quiz question.

This is the strangest quizzing issues I have ever encountered. Captivate 9 version 9.0.2.437

Two users reported to me that some of the questions (3 or 4) of  a 20 question quiz that uses questions pools are showing the wrong multiple choice answers, or answers from a different quiz question. I asked them to send me a screen shot as I was in disbelief.

This quiz question  (screenshot #1) has answers for the 2nd screenshot (screenshot #2).

Screenshot #2

Basically, the answers are mixed. screenshot 1's question has screenshot 2's answers and screenshot 2's question has the answer for Screenshot 1's answers.

The Captivate file I have has 15 questions pools and draws 20 questions from all the questions pools. From what I have noticed, the answers that are mixed up on the

quiz are mixing up the questions and answers from the same question pool. ex.

Not sure really where to start with troubleshooting this issue besides determining the browser and version the users are using.

Anyone else have something like this occur?

Looks like you may have a corrupted question pool.

I suggest you move all of the questions OUT of that particular Question Pool, and then delete the Question Pool.  Create a new one and then migrate questions back into that one AFTER checking the items below.

I suggest you move all of the questions OUT of that particular Question Pool, and then delete the Question Pool.  Create a new one and then migrate questions back into that one AFTER checking the items below.

Next, check all of the question slides to make sure they are NOT missing any of the default captions, specifically the Question Title and Question Text captions.  (You can check that these are present by selecting the captions at the top of the question slide and looking at what those objects are called in the Properties tab.)

If you find that any of these captions at the top are NOT the original Question Title or Question Text captions, but might have been replaced with lookalike normal text captions, then you will need to replace those quiz slides with new ones.

Thanks Rod for your solution, it makes sense the question pool becoming currupt could be a possible reason.

Have you experienced this situation before?

I am curious as to the root cause for this issue. I have had this quiz/course being used for 8 months  without receiving this issue and just recently received this error (LMS delivery) . I have the same quiz/course in a sandbox and have not been able to recreate the quiz questions having mixed up answers. This leads me to believe it could be an issue with an outdated browser or something system related with the user. I forgot to mention that I am publishing in HTML5 output.

I would like to reproduce the issue myself before making edits to the cap file and republishing.

I don't use question pools all that much so I cannot say that I have personally experienced this issue.  But I have seen others here on the forum talk about it.

It's almost impossible to say what causes corruption of any Captivate project but one of the most common reasons in the past has been the practice of working on CPTX projects that are NOT stored on your local hard drive.  That's a great way to ruin a project.

Thanks for the response Rod. Yeah, I have learned the hard way with cptx projects becoming corrupted when using a network drive. We have actually made it a policy to only work on local drives. Again, thanks for your help.
