Quiz Reporting Status Representation

I can't understand the difference between Quiz Reporting - Stats Representation = Incomplete --> Incomplete AND Incomplete --> Passed / Failed. See image:

quiz reporting.jpg

I recently had a health and safety course that was set to user must score 99% to pass.  Users had 10 questions with 10 points each.

System was set to record only highest score = ignoring fails.

But reporting was bringing back scores of 50 - 60 - 70 etc.

I think the setting was Incomplete --> Passed / Failed and when I changed it to Incomplete --> Complete the behaviour stopped.

Can anyone explain this logic so I might understand A: what is happening here? and B: how each of the 2 settings might practicably be used?

thanks

Richard.

You've posted in the forum for Adobe Capture (a mobile app). Please let me know what software you're using so I can move your post to the correct forum.

Sue.

Richard.

I had a feeling... but didn't want to assume that.

I'll move it for you.

Sue.

I think I can explain this.

Incomplete - pass/failed is related to the score

Incomplete - complete/incomplete is realted to just having viewed the lesson

By switching it to the second option, as long as people complete the lesson they'll pass (I don't think that's what you want).

I don't know your LMS but I think the first option is reporting smaller scores because SCORM always sends the score. Likely when you set it to record only the highest score, what you are actually doing is setting it to only KEEP the highest score. This basically means that if a learner gets a passing grade, and then goes back in and fails because they are just clicking through, their passing score won't be overwritten.

Can I ask where you are setting the pass mark? Captivate or in your LMS? You'll want to make sure it is set in the Captivate publish settings under Pass or Fail.

What do you want to happen if they fail? They just get a retake button?

Thanks for this

Actually in the fist option shown it is working OK. The settings to pass = 99% is set in Captivate

It is the 2nd option = Incomplete --> Passed/Failed that was polling the lesser scores. The fist option (shown checked) is only polling the highest score (unless by coincidence 7000 users managed to get 100% first time 🙂

What you say makes sense where opening the lesson = pass AND the score IS recorded as 'pass' in the LMS even though in Captivate it is waiting for >98%

We had x3 compliance courses running and just one of them was behaving this odd way recording all of the users attempts. It was this setting that was different to the other two courses.

confusing...  But I assume the logic is good

thanks

Hi,

Maybe I am wrong, however, with your current settings you have to visit (view) all slides to achieve Status Representation to Complete and Success/Completion criteria 100%

If you would like to validate success criteria based on the quiz result you have to change from Slide View to Quiz

Let me know if I am wrong?

PB
