Hi everyone, I'm hoping that someome may be able to advise me how to get over the issues I'm having regarding the submit button on quiz question slides.
I have added in some question slides but when clicking the Submit button sometimes it moves on after 1 click other times it's taking 2 clicks but I can't find any reason for this.
I've run some tests with the questions and sometimes a question which took 2 clicks, next time takes 1 and another which moved on on 1 click then takes 2.
Users only have one attempt at each of these questions because they can change their answer before submitting.
On advice I've changed the On Success from Contiue to Jump to but it's made no difference.
The only thing I've changed is the colour of the Submit button.
Thank you to everyone for any advice/help would be great as I have spent so much time on this but without any progress.

Are you sure you only changed a button color? Did you keep all the embedded objects, both on the quizzing master slides and the quiz slides? Did you keep the two-step Submit process. Didn't you add any supplementary interactive object (Shape button) to the quiz slides? Do you have slide audio on those slides?
Changing the Success/Last Attempt actions from Continue to Go to Next slide is not always a good idea, because it can cause issues after publishing (in case of low bandwidth and transmitting data after each quiz slide). A better solution is to move the pausing point of the quiz slide closer towards the end of the slide, but not fully at the end. That will reduce the 'inactive' portion of the slide and make the waiting time shorter.
How did you test? Only locally with Preview HTML in Browser or after publishing? Did you upload the the LMS?

BTW: is this a non-responsive or a responsive project? Which theme did you use? If it is a custom theme was it created in this version of Captivate or in a previous version?

Hi, to both yourself and Paul and firstly I wish to apologise for not responding sooner, I won't bore you with the reasons but I would like to thank both yourself and Paul for your very valued responses.
In answer to your questions please see my responses below:
Are you sure you only changed a button color? I thught I had but on checking the Master apparently not
Did you keep all the embedded objects, both on the quizzing master slides and the quiz slides? I've checked the Master slide of the MCQ,T/F, FIB and Sequence and now see that the only thing I've left on it is the Submit button. Everything else on this Master slide I appear to have removed in my naivety as I don't want all of them visible to the user.
I had a go at creating a Theme for the first time and believe that's when I removed the other buttons.
I created the Theme in the hope it would speed up my development time but don't think I've understood or done it correctly as it has the text etc., from the slide I used to create it.
Did you keep the two-step Submit process - Yes
Didn't you add any supplementary interactive object (Shape button) to the quiz slides? I added some images to some of the slides and changed the shape and colour of the Submit button
Do you have slide audio on those slides? No
How did you test? With Preview HTML in Browser
Did you upload the the LMS? I'm waiting for them to agree this
I don't know if I've completely messed everything up or, if I start a new project, will the Quiz Master Slides all be as they should?
Guess I'll have to start again and see.
Once again, thank you both so much for your advice, and again, my apologies for taking so long to get back to you both

One of the causes for your problems can be due to removing embedded objects. You can uncheck the option to hide them, but you should never delete them on the master slides. That is what I also emphasize a lot in all my blog poss about quizzes. Many consultancy jobs included restoring quizzing master slides because they had been messed up. As for creating a custom theme, it is really a save timer, but you need to know exactly what can be done, and what should be avoided. Sorry to use so many links, but I have published a lot about themes as well. Exploring the themes in the Quick Start Projects can be interesting, although several of those projects do not have a 'good' theme. Here is a link to a global blog, which has links to all theme blog posts:

Indeed, I would start with restoring the Quizzing master slides and hide the unwanted embedded objects with the options in the Quiz Preferences and/or the Quiz Slide Properties panel. You can add custom non-interactive objects to quiz master slides but know that they will be below the default quiz objects in the z-order (stacking order). You can use an image as background in the master slides, without problems. To include other objects, try to free up some real estate for them by decreasing the size of the answer area and other areas.

Changing the On Success action is only half the battle. You should also change the action for Last Attempt as well. You could also try pushing the pause point to later on the slide. Hover your mouse over the pause point of the slide and click and drag it to a later position on the slide. You can keep the action of Continue if the pause point is at the end of the slide like this.

@susanc56780436 Please, NEVER push the pausing point till the last frame of the quiz slide. I have mentioned the reason in the first answer. Reason is also explained in the quiz blog post.

n response to your additional quesions please see below:
is this a non-responsive or a responsive project? It's a non-responsive project
Which theme did you use? It was a custom theme created in this version of Captivate
Once again, thank you
