"Pause slide till end of video" simply not working

I'm using Adobe Captivate version 9.0.0.223

Windows 7 Professional, Service Pack 1

I created a project where there is a video (.MP4) followed by a few question slides, followed by another video (.MP4) with another few question slides.

For both videos, I selected "Pause slide till end of video" (Timing --> Display For: [Rest of Slide] --> Checked "Pause slide till end of video"). On the first video slide, this feature works fine. On the second video slide, it does not function. That is to say that the slide continues no matter what length I try. I have also examined all of the setting for each respective video and their host slides but have found no obvious differences.

I have considered matching the length of the slide to the length of the video but that could be disrupted by buffering times or if the user decided to pause for a while. I could use the invisible button trick but, frankly, that's just nonsense for such an expensive product from such a large corporation.

There has got to be a solution. Am I missing something obvious?

One of the obvious things to me is that your quoted version of Captivate 9 is now two updates behind.

I suggest you first update your application to the latest version and then retest to see if the issue is resolved.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe you’re thinking of this option in the wrong manner. This is an example of how the feature works. You have a slide that’s 20 seconds long and a video that’s 30 seconds long. If you place the video on the slide as an Event Video, it will appear in your timeline but won’t increase the duration of the slide.  The pause slide option will be checked by default and if you preview the project in HTML5 the slide will reach the end at 20 seconds but the video will continue to play as it’s 30 seconds long. When you reach the end of the video the slide will unpause and advance to the next slide. If you uncheck the pause slide option and preview again, the slide won’t pause at 20 seconds and just advance to the next slide.
