I am on a Windows 10 system, Captivate 2019 version 11.5.1.499, freshly reinstalled this morning.
Whenever I try to record a software simulation demo (for an app that runs in a browser window), I only get a 3 second slide with the end result. It does not matter where I click/type or how long I actually record.
I have previously recorded over 20 simulations in demo mode while on Captivate 9. Upgrading to Captivate 2017 seemed to break this functionality. Upgrading to 2019 still has not fixed this problem. I am forced to manually hit Print Screen to capture every slide.
I have seen this problem described in the User Forums, is this a bug that will be fixed?

Hello Barb,
I usually do a simulation manually. (screenshot)
That way I can explain the how and the why.
You can not do that with a demo. For example, if they are filling a form I want to them to experience every detail in the form and why it's done this way. You can go into more details and better control.
The feedback is a plus.
Usually I do not record demo I create them from the ground up.
I teach them how to fish instead of giving them the fish.
You can use the demo as a guide.

Personally I prefer Video Demo for a pure demonstration because it avoids some of the pitfalls with HTML5 output for software sims in demo mode. Most problems reported here are linked with the FMR slides in the demo's. They are SWF-based, are cconverted to MP4 on publishing but that conversion is not always very good. If I need to do a software sim in demo mode, I stop when I cannot avoid a FMR-slide and record a Video Demo Slide instead, then i continue with the normal software sim slides.
You also need to run Captivate as Admininstratro, is that the case?

Yes, I am running Captivate as Administrator. As stated, I was able to easily record over 20 software demo simulations while using captivate 9, but that functionality disappeared when updating to Captivate 2017. It was not restored with an update to Captivate 2019 2019 version 11.5.1.499.
Your preferred method for recording is unwieldy and time consuming. Using the Video capture makes it difficult to add in call-outs and use the builtin Neo-Speech voices for narration, as I have been directed to do.
The software worked correctly in Captivate 9 and now does not work correctly nor as advertised in the instruction manual. Most of the developers I work with would call that a bug. Will it be fixed?

I had the same issue for a while. I noticed that it only captures everything from the monitor set as "Use this as my main display".
Try switching the monitor you'rte trying to record from.

Please start your own new posts when the original thread is several years old. These folks are using earlier releases of Adobe Captivate and your question will get more traction if you post a new question instead of resurrecting an old thread like this.
