I am using Captivate to capture a video that is playing on my computer, but I can not manage to capture the sound from that video itself in my Captivate recording. I have downloaded Soundflower and restarted my computer. But when i go to system preferences, and then to "sound," I do not see soundflower as an option there.
Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you are recording a Video Demo. Have you checked off System Audio as depicted here?
If you have the video file on your computer's hard drive you may wish to simply insert it into your Captivate project through the Media icon.

hi--thanks for your help. Yes I did check that box, but Captivate is not picking up the audio. I am still wondering if I have not correctly installed Soundflower. Is doing so necessary?

Why don't you tell me more about this video and perhaps I can make a suggestion. I don't use Soundflower so I'm not sure what it does.

Hi ilanars,
That might explain why your system sounds are not being recorded. Captivate may not interpret audio from a streaming video as a "System Sound" I don't know for sure, I have never done it however, video and audio are often treated as two different signal types even though they are played sycnchronicaly. I also, am unfamilair with Sound Flower so I can't offer any advice.
Cheers
Steve

Soundflower is an open-source extension for MACs
If Soundflowser is not working for you, maybe the alternative software called Loopback will work for you (the link is on the page reached by the link I provided above).
