How do I rename a project in Captivate 8?

If you're looking to change the name of the course in an LMS, you may need to open Preferences, select Reporting under Quiz, then Click Configure, then change the "Course Title" from the default of "Captivate E-Learning Course."
I believe this will also change the name of the page <title> created in the HTML file that is published with the project files.

I just want to change it in Captivate. Somehow my project got duplicated with the same name and I want to be sure I'm making changes to the right project. Your reporting in preferences looks different than mine. I'm using 8:

Click the Configure button next to where it says SCORM 1.2 and you will see the dialog that BDuckworks showed. That's the Manifest dialog that needs to be configured for every SCORM so that they are unique.

Thanks guys, I found what you were talking about, however that still did not change the title of my project which is not in an LMS at this point. I need to be able to see the name change on the front end.

How about posting a screenshot of what you're trying to change?

I didn't even think this was possible, but I have duplicates of the same project. I need to know I'm working on the right one, so I need the name change.

Try finding the location of the project by doing a mouse hover on project name.
Else you can do a save as with different name.

That's exactly what I have been asking. How do I save with a different name?

OMG!! Do I ever feel like an idiot! I swear I did not see the Save As. Thanks Guys, sorry I asked such a stupid question.

I remember why I didn't use that Save As method. That just gives me a third project and I'm still left with the 2 names the same. \

Using Save As will give you a project CPTX with a different filename. Captivate remembers the last target folder location you used when executing a Save As. I don't remember whether or not other apps work that way, but if you think it should work differently, log an enhancement request and state your case. You never know...
But using Save As won't change any of the details INSIDE that project that determine what it comes up as when published. To do that you need to change the Project Title in the Publish dialog.

Somehow, my response from the road this morning got lost.
I'd suggested using File -> Save As to rename the project, which will change the name displayed on the tab in screenshot two.
If you wish to change the name shown on the title slide, double click it and edit.
I've been adding a text caption to the title slide with version numbers and a summary of recent edits:
You may also notice that the file names, shown at the bottom, have course numbers and version numbers, which are saved frequently and copied away from the working C drive!

Gania,
Not such a stupid question.
I have problems with understanding the way CP8 works with Save and Save As.
As an example.
I have two folders, FolderA and FolderB.
I open up ProjectA from FolderA, by using File,Open and physically going to the folder.
I then use File,Save and the project is saved..
I then use File,Open to open ProjectB from FolderB.
I then use File,Save and it saves it.
However, if I use the File,Save As command Captivate offers to save my ProjectB in the previously used FolderA.
I often use version numbers at the end of my files names, such as ProjectBv01, ProjectBv02, and I have sometimes found that a file saved using Save As has ended up in the wrong folder.
Instead of File,Save As I now shut down Captivate and copy and rename files using plain old Windows, so I know what files I have in what folders. (A bit OTT, but it works for me.)
Good luck.
