resetting/unfreeze a Drag and Drop activity after it was submitted

Greetings all - My project has a Drag and Drop activity that does not have a specific correct answer. After dragging and dropping, the learner clicks Submit and proceeds to the next slide in the project. If they go back to the slide with the Drag and Drop activity, the items they moved around are not locked and they can't make any changes. How do I unlock the items so they can make changes WITHOUT resetting the entire slide back to the original item list order?

Thanks for any assistance. BTW we are using Captivate 8 for this project.

Cheers,

Russell Lash

I suspect there is a typo in your question: " the items they moved around are not locked and they can't make any changes". If they are not locked, you can move them.

The normal behavior of a D&D slide when it is NOT reported, has no score is that it is reset to the initial state and can be used again. Can you check if there is a score attached to the D&D?

First, you are right, that is a typo. Upon further examination of the question slide, it is not a Drag and Drop but a Sequence question and it is setup as a Survey, not a Graded question. So, there is no score assigned, but the Reporting check box at the bottom of the Properties tab is checked.

So the desired result is, after the user changes the order of the items on the page, after leaving that page and then returning to it, the items should be in the sequence the learner place them and be movable so the learner can change the sequence. Right now, the items are frozen in place.

Thanks,

If it is a normal question slide, even if it is survey, is designed that way. If you want to reset that slide you can use the Retake button on the score slide or use a JS technique that TLCMediaDesing described a while ago. If I can find the thread, will post it.

Another approach could be to use a D&D slide for the sequence exercise.
