Rolling back to an older version of Captivate

Explorer ,
Dec 21, 2016 Dec 21, 2016

I asked a previous question about the contents of the dr folder (whether it is populated with json files or image files).

I was able to determine that my predecessors were using Captivate 9.0.0.223. Their published projects created dr folders filled with images.

I'm on Captivate 9.0.2.437. When I start with the original project files, my published projects create dr folders filled with json.

Their existing SCORM files work on our LMS but mine don't!!

I'm hoping that if I can install 9.0.0.223, I will be able to publish projects that will work on our LMS system.

Can anyone tell me how to roll back to a previous version?

Thanks for any help!

Kaitlin

In the long run, you would be better off getting your LMS server setup for JSON file support. It literally would take a qualified IT professional about 30 seconds to do this. Also, be forewarned that there are several bugs that the various updates that bring you up to Adobe Captivate 9.0.2.437 address. Obviously, you could be introducing those bugs back into your project.

You will first need to get your hands on an original release of Adobe Captivate 9.0.0.223. I believe that the version that's available to download from Adobe has all the minor updates already applied. Once you know you have that, uninstall your Adobe Captivate 9.0.2.437.

You will want to remove any folder left behind from the previous installation, to ensure that files meant for 9.0.2.437 are removed. Typically these will be located at the following locations:

PC:

  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 9 x64
  • C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Adobe\

Mac:

  • /Applications/Adobe Captivate 9/
  • /Users/<user account>/Documents/My Adobe Captivate Projects

Reinstall Adobe Captivate from the 9.0.0.223 install files you previously sourced.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you are saying it is available?  Could you clarify if earlier builds of Captivate 9 are still available online?

I was able to get our LMS provider to update for JSON mime type as a result of your advice. They didn't understand my request at first - I'm not sure what that says about our LMS provider.

Anyway, just realized that I didn't say thank you. Sorry about that. Thanks so much for your help!
