Rollover options not available

Hi,

Does anyone know why Rollover Objects may not be available?

I'm using a licensed version of Captivate 9.

See screenshot.

The same thing applies to Text Animations in the Text tab.

You're developing a responsive project.

Rollovers have no use in touch screen devices. 

Text animations are actually SWF widgets and are therefore not supported in HTML5 output.  Responsive projects can ONLY be published to HTML5 so they're out too.

Thanks a million, that explains it. Is there a quick way of transferring a responsive project into a Blank Project format?

There is no way to convert a responsive project to a Blank project, sorry.

And no way of inserting a blank-project type slide into a responsive project no?

Would you also know how to turn on the user-controls in the main project? play, pause, forward, back etc?

No, both types of projects are too different.

Go into the Skin editor (Project menu) to turn on more controls. Beware: default playbars are only usable for pure linear projects. If you have branching, they can be very confusing.

Hi Lilybiri,

I accessed the Skin Editor but the options to add Play, Pause, Forward, Rewind etc. aren't available. I tried every type of Skin and Theme and they didn't become available for any of them.

Do you have Pretest slides? Or Branch aware turned on?

There is a Pretest slide yep.

I don't know what Branch Aware is or where to find it...Found it mentioned in this article Adobe Captivate Help | Quiz preferences saying to check Edit>Preferences>Quiz>Settings - but I still don't see anything called Branch Aware when I go in to these settings?

If you have Pretest slides, all navigation is made impossible, that is the reason for the buttons being greyed out.

oh ok, I'll remove the pretest slide. God, this all would have been so much easier in PPT or Storyline, so many restrictions on this!

Captivate has more features and is different from PPT (glad about that, don't like PPT for eLearning at all).

The biggest problem is that all those features are badly documented.

Moreover, nobody takes time to learn. This is not meant personally, but let me try a metaphor. As a kid you learned to bike, I hope? Suddenly you get a car... pretty complicated dashboard, lot of handles, numbers everywhere, buttons... Will you expect to be able to drive that car right away (even if it is not stick-shifted like mostly here in Europe) without taking any training?
