Hi, I'm still a relative newbie to Captivate (using version 8). I have a question regarding the tracking options for SCORM 2004.
I'm building a course that doesn't have a test at the end. There are a few quiz questions throughout, but because of the content I don't want the learner's completion to be affected by whether or not they get those correct. This would ordinarily lead me to select the Slide Views option, but it's a branching course and I don't know exactly how many slides they will view.
Is there another way to send a completion, possibly through a variable? Ideally, I'd like to trigger the completion based on reaching an ending slide, or having them check a box on one of the final slides indicating an action they'll be taking outside of the course.
In Storyline, I've done this by creating a Results Slide as my final slide and then just getting rid of all the scoring and just saying, "Congratulations, you completed the course..." and then when publishing, choosing to track by Results Slide.
Can anyone help me accomplish something like this?
Thanks in advance!
Arend

As with Storyline, Captivate can also award completion based on the number of slides viewed. But if you're not sure how many slides they will view, your idea about adding the button is probably your best option. Just set ONLY that button to report to the quiz with a score of 1 or something similar and place it on a slide that the user can ONLY get to after viewing enough of the content to be awarded completion.

Hi Rod! Thanks for responding.
Just so I'm clear on this, I can create a button or a click box and check "Include in Quiz" under Reporting on the Properties inspector?
So if I have a couple of other Quiz questions throughout that I don't want to affect the user's completion, I can just uncheck Report Answers for those and the course would only use the data from the button on the last slide?
Thanks again!
