Hi everyone, I'm using the Jeopardy game developed by eLearningBrothers.com, but I'm not savvy enough with scripting and variables to be able to figure this out myself. What I need to be able to do is customize the individual answers, as shown below. The default answers are "This is NOT correct" and "This is correct," as you can see. Does anyone know how I can I modify the existing variables so that I can enter my own answers?
Thank you,
Robyn

Can you ask this on the eLearning Brothers site, please?
Personally I don't like the way these advanced actions are set up at all. To allow customisation this could have been done in a more friendly way. choose Literal and type in your correct/incorrect message. About the labeling: is there no Help or explanation around? Having elb in every name is just branding and makes it more complicated. It is much more useful to see which names are for variables, which for other objects. Sorry for the comme

To change the literal text "This is NOT Correct', double click on it, choose 'literal' from the dropdown list (has only two items: variable and literal), type in the text you want (no need to add the doube quotes, they will be added automatically when the literal has several words with spaces in between). Confirm by Enter.
I don't know why you marked the name of the action with a green ellipse.

Thank you for your help. Both eLearning Brothers and Adobe are closed today ...

To see that double-clicking, watch the video in this very old article (sorry, I have plenty of blog posts with tutorials about advanced actions, variables, shared actions, but not many videos):
Video tutorial: Advanced conditional action for customized feedback

Unfortunately, I never got it working beyond the first question. I went ahead and did as you suggested (entered the individual answers in as a literal), but after I did the second question, the game no longer worked (that is, after clicking the answer to the first question, the interface for the question board never returned. I can call Adobe on Monday if you'd rather not think about this ![]()
I'll check out the link you sent before long.
Thanks again,
Robyn

Robyn, is there any reason why you don't use the Jeopardy Game included with Captivate as a Learning Interaction? I could help with that one, as could Adobe. But for the assets you download from the eLearning Brothers you'll have to contact them, not Adobe.
I pointed you out how to change a feedback text in the advanced action for which you posted the screenshot, there is no answer text in that advanced action. It would be a surprise that you are expected to change actions in an asset like that. The included Jeopardy game has a dialog box where you can change quite a lot, not only answers but also look of the different user views. No need to mess up with advanced actions, which is always dangerous if you are not used to work with them. I have created games myself, but I'm used to create advanced/shared actions and manipulate variables:
Matchstick Game - shared actions - Captivate blog
Concentration Game - created exclusively with Captivate - Captivate blog

Yes! The Captivate Jeopardy is super easy to use, but my clients don't like it (looks too old fashioned - a better interface is needed - I agree).
Within the Brothers elearning template itself, it explains how to change the individuals answers, so there should be no surprise that I'd like to change this. I just can't quite figure it out. It looks like they're using variables. I'll play around with it and call brothers tomorrow if I can't figure it out.

Get it. Here is a first lesson: look at the complete conditioal action, which is possible using the Preview button in the top right control panel of the dialog box, looks like a Play arrow. Post that preview window, maybe you'll need more than one screenshot if you have to scroll.

Hi Lilybiri, just wanted to let you know that the answers to the questions in the Jeopardy game were indeed where you said, as shown below. Using a little help from the elearning Brothers via email, I was able to fully customize the template for our own use, and am quite pleased with it.
We're now looking for Millionaire and Family Feud templates that can be published to SWF. I've seen several HTML versions around (including eLearning Brothers), but no SWF versions (other than what comes installed with Captivate). Would you happen to know of any?
Thanks again.

I once created a Family Feud for a client. I don't see anything included in your previous answer? You have to use the image button to include a screenshot.

Hmmm - that's odd. I inserted the images using the image icon, but here they are again.
Does your Family Feud game export to SWF?

I cannot recommend family feuds. They cause endless problems around the world.
Oh wait...you meant THOSE learning interaction thingies! My bad..

Agree - we can definitely do without those kinds of feuds!

Sorry, but nothing shows up for me.
Yes, the Jeopardy was published for both HTML and SWF. But I'm not a widget developer at all.

Lilybiri, can I try using your template to see if I can change the questions and answers out and go from there?
