Hi all, whenever I use a shape as button and I hover to click on it, it usually changes color to a grey coloring. How can I prevent this from happening?

Which version of Captivate are you using, please? Shape buttons have InBuilt states, but the way to edit the states depends on the version you have. Those states can be seen in the Object Style Manager.

Check the correct version, it should be 9.0.2.437.
It is common practice for any interactive object to have InBuilt states. For the shape buttons in CP9 you have 3 InBuilt states:
Those states are in the Object State panel which you can open using the State View button in the Properties panel or using the WIndow menu. Select the state you want to change and edit Fill/Stroke. Same for the Down state. You can also add custom states, maybe to show when a button has already been clicked, or with added objects that have to appear (like a checkmark).
Not only buttons have InBuilt states, but also the Drag sources and Drop targets. Watch this movie to see an overview: (also valid for CP9)

Than you for the response. But I have additional question. I am using the smart shape as a button on an image. I have changed the setting in the state view to depict the main screen and I set the opacity to 0 so it is transparent and shows my image. But the state view still does not let my image show

Why not put the image in the shape? Have a look at this old blog post
Turn an Image into a Button - Captivate blog
You can have the same image in each state (using the Object State panel) or a different one, or edit the image to change its alpha, its hue, saturation...
If you insist on keeping two objects instead of one (which I consider to be bad practice), check the Alpha setting of the shape in all object states, not only in the normal state.
