Hi,
I have some slides which are imported to captivate 8. One a slide, I inserted a rectangular shape and made it a button, so that it points to a particular location. However, in the preview and the published output, the area where the shape is inserted has a gray hue. I have modified the properties so that the shape remains transparent and opacity set to 0%. I see that the box has a gray hue in both FF and Chrome browsers.
Here is the snapshot:
The PPT has been created using MS Powerpoint 2010 version, and saved as a .ppt file (97-2003) format. This issue persists if the project is published as HTML5 or SWF or both the options. Kindly advice!
You have the Fill Alpha set to 0% that means totally transparent. Moreover the stroke width is set to 0, which means no stroke. Why do you want an invisible button? Did you try a click box instead, which is invisible by default. I never use imported PPT-slides myself, maybe the movie slides that are created on import have problems with transparent shapes.

Can you explain your first sentence 'slides which are imported to captivate 8'? Imported from PPT? That means that every slide is converted to a short movie slide, not a very good starting point to make the slides interactive at all. I always recommend to start in Captivate itself, eventually using assets from the PPT.
Is it possible to show the Properties panel of that shape button as well?

Lilybiri‌, Thanks for your reply.
I have imported the slides from a PPT using the option File > New Project > Project from MS Powerpoint.
Here is the Properties panel of the shape button:
Here is the Actions menu:

Hi,
I'm assuming you have text or an image beneath the custom shape you've created, and that's what you want your users to "click". There are three states associated to a custom shape button. You have to make sure all states are transparent (opacity of 0%), and as Lilybiri said make sure to also set the stroke to 0 (that goes for all states).I ran across this issue a while back when I created some custom buttons using shapes (in my case I had to use three separate images for each of the states, but the principle is the same). That should eliminate the gray bar you're seeing. See the image below:

Just FYI: in Captivate 8 you can disable the Rollover and Down state, and just keep the Normal state.
