I have recorded a simulation of a system. In the filmstrip, all parts of the system that was recorded are displayed and look as they should. When I preview or publish, parts of the screen disappear. Is there a way to fix this or prevent it when it is recorded?

May I ask what level of experience you have with Captivate?
Are you familiar with how objects appear or disappear according to their placing on the timeline?

I've used Captivate for about 10 years so I'm pretty familiar with the timeline. The information that is disappearing is part of the system that was recorded in the simulation - not any of the objects added. A collegue part of the recording So I'm not sure if it was the recording or something that can be fixed.

OK. Then if the object that is disappearing seems to disappear from the background AS the slide timeline is playing, I would say the issue is likely to be similar to where Captivate captures the rollover effect of a button as a hidden layer in the background graphic and the object only appears for a brief second, not for the entire timeline. It's a fairly rare phenomenon nowadays, but I have seen it happen.
The only real recourse is either to recapture the necessary slides again using Captivate, or else take a screenshot of the missing objects in the original app (using another tool such as SnagIT) and then bring these graphics into the Captivate project to overlay them on top of the current background.
