Slide audio not paused as set using buttons

Contributor ,

Hi,

I have a slide in which two people have a phone conversation.

Once one person stops talking the slide audio is supposed to stop using a button and "pause slide audio" until the learner clicks next.

Unfortunately the exact pause point is all over the map and the pause mostly comes 1 second late.

Furthermore, when I try to fix it by moving it that amount of time to the left, the pause error is not fixed. That means, I might fix one pause but then another one comes to early etc.

CP 9 latest patch PC.

Thanks for any idea!

I don´t want to tie cut audio bits to the buttons which I could of course do to replace the slide audio.

Do you have a precise reason why it has to be slide audio? Do you perhaps need CC?

The whole audio clip has to be loaded when the slide appears, that can lead to a lag if you talk about a long audio clip. Personally I would prefer to use audio objects or the command Play audio, because the clips would be much shorter. Since you stated from the beginning that you didn't want to do that, I didn't offer that suggestion before. A lot depends also on the bandwidth which is used by the learners. did yo

If I wanted to recreate what you're describing, I would divide my audio up into individual files that corresponding with the number of pause points that you wish to have. Create a number of slides (even if they all look like one another) equal to the number of audio files. Create a "Continue Conversation" button for each of those slides that advances the course to the next slide and thereby the next audio clip. You could have the buttons not appear until the last second or two of each slide so users hear all the recording before skipping ahead.

Hello Paul,

thanks a lot.

That of course is an option but I don´t understand why it isn´t working as advertised.

I try to keep the number of slides down usually.

The whole timeline makes no sense if the timing is not precise.

Does anyone have an idea of the reason?

Unfortunately, a web browser takes a certain amount of time to load any number of objects, including audio and even when it's locally loading. I understand your reluctance to use additional slides, however, keep in mind they are completely free. Unless you get up into the many hundreds of slides you really don't have to worry too much about extra slides.

Thanks Lili and Paul, the slide audio is 1:44 which is not extremely long I feel. Also it doesn´t even play correctly when I play it locally. Well, I will have to cut it up I guess....
