Start an OAM animation with a button (Cp 9)

I have put a spinning OAM animation on a slide. Is it possible to start the spinning by clicking a button? In my trial, I have hidden the animation and set up a button to show it. When I click the button, the animation appears, but it doesn't spin. (Is it running its timeline while it's hidden?) Is there a way to run an animation like a video--static until a button is pressed?

My original idea before beginning this experiment was to create an effect that rotates an object more than 360 degrees (maybe 1000 deg.), but this doesn't seem to be possible in Cp.

You can do that with a rotation effect, it is possible to attach multiple effects to one object, staggered on the timeline. Or by using advanced actions, alternating Delay Next Command and Apply effect.

Another approach with the OAM is to put it somewhere on the timeline the pausing point of the button, and attach the action 'Continue' to that button.

Is there a word missing in the last paragraph of the answer? I don't get, "put it somewhere on the timeline (?) the pausing point."

Oops, sorry, will repeat:

"Another approach with the OAM is to put it somewhere on the timeline just after the pausing point of the button, and attach the action 'Continue' to that button."
