You could try inserting a Storyline published SWF into Captivate as an animation.  But that's not really having Captivate READ it, just play it as an object.  But quite frankly there's no real advantage in doing this as anything you can build in Storyline you could have built in Captivate as well.

No you cannot neither. You could insert a SWF published by SL but there will be no communication possible with CP, it will simply be an animation. Both tools are very different. CP publishes to HTML natively as you perhaps ignore.
