subscription vs license purchase of Captivate

Can anyone tell me the difference between a subscription to Captivate vs a full license purchase?  Is there an advantage to one vs the other?

If you have a subscription license you will always be able to upgrade to the most recent version (and keep the previous version, but never more thatn 2 versions). If you have a perpetual license, you will have to buy a new license on release of a new version (or maybe an upgrade price) but you can keep the previous license of course. It is a little bit like buying or leasing an application.  The intermediate patches (between full releases) are free also for a perpetual license.
