Swatch manager won´t load swatches ...???

I´m preparing a theme for a customer, using theme colors as well as .ASE color swatches (we use swatches additional, because the customes CI color palette uses much more colors than the theme colors can handle). But unfortunately some of my clients cannot load the swatches in the swatch manager! They use the load button in the swatch manager, select the ASE file, but nothing happens. On some computers it´s working, on some not. I´ve checked for administrator rights, if they can add files into the Gallery folder, and that´s working fine. But not the swatches. Any other idea?

Hmmm, I don't use the Swatch manager anymore since a while because I don't think that having more than 10 colors + 50 tints will add quality to a project. The only workaround I see is to enter the individual swatches instead of loading the ASE. For previous versions I explained the use of ASE, but since the problem is not consistent, it would be just guessing.

Yeah, I´m on your side when it comes to 50 shades of whatever color But as it is, my customers CI provides not only one darkblue which they use for their logo, but additonal 5 shades of blue, 7 shades of grey, and 4 secondary colors which come with 3 shades each. Add black and white and we have 27 colors which must be provided in Captivate, because the users MUST NOT use any other color or any other than the defined shade.

So, what did you mean with "enter the individual swatches"?

Use the Color Picker, which is available in the Swatch Manager, you can enter either the RGB values (which you have first maybe to convert if they offered you CMYK values) or the hexadecimal value for a wanted swatch to be added:

Oh, I see. But that means, each and every time Captivate will be started, one has to pick each color anew, because Captivate starts with the default color palette. That´s too much work for the people, picking all 27 colors every day ... I want to make workflows as effective as possible and as easy as possible, so loading ASE via the swatch manager seems quite comfortable - whne it´s working 😉

So I guess the only workaround will be placing 27 objects on a slide to give the opportunity to pick the color from them??

Dear Adobe, please add customizable swatch manager into themes 🙂

You can save the swatches in the Swatch manager....load them again.

I agree totally, have pleaded many times for a better color work flow. It did lead to the Swatch manager (versions ago) and later on to the Theme Colors palette, which is however not very consistent:

Theme Colors - Captivate blog

My suspicion about not improving this part, is that most CP-users really don't care very much, I often see when doing consulting that they ignore the power of themes, the use of the Theme Colors palette, object styles etc. Like with most software applications, over 90% of users are using about 10% of the app features.

I can only insist that you log feature requests, as much as possible, to be heard by the Adobe team.
